Over the last long weekend we stayed in a lovely B&B, called Bronwen Cottage on the Isle of Anglesey. It's a 400 year old, lovingly restored house with a gorgeous abundant garden. I really didn't realise how far away it was, and driving 6 hours with no Sat-Nav really tests our relationship!
We went for the raw food / vegetarian combo for breakfast and dinner, but next time I think we'll go for the whole raw option.
The raw dinner on the first night was:
Dessert: a cake inspired by reading 'The Red Tent' the oldest love story never told by Anita Diamant. Raw chocolate, wild carob, yacon syrup, almonds, filtered/purified water, coconut oil, goji berries and mahonia aquifolium (organ grape) from the garden.
Main meal: Spring Tide Burgers and Sweet Heart Slaw
It was so incredibly rich and gorgeous. Funny how raw food can fill you up, even when it looks like a normal portion. We wrapped up our leftovers and took it to the beach the next day.
Breakfast was grapefruit and pineapple mint juice, with raw muesli, which was shredded apple, sprouted and dehydrated wheat groats and other yummy bits and pieces. There was also great quantities of tea - both dried from their garden, and lovely detox teas and although the tap water in Wales tasted divine, there was also lots of filtered water with lemon.
The cooked vegetarian food was also very good, and we also ate some cooked food out in the local towns. We visited some cool castles, sat on a beach for a couple of hours, and even had chips by the sea! We also did yoga in the cottage garden every morning, and it was amazing getting some fresh air into my lungs. Only took pictures of the sheep - sorry!
My only warning though - they have two lovely, but very energetic dogs. I'm not a dog person, and they were fine, but if you hate dogs, then maybe try somewhere else.
